ENVIRONMENTAL, SOCIAL, AND GOVERNANCE

Enabling a Clean Energy Transition

Thank you for your interest. The grid is rapidly evolving, and it will take AI-driven solutions to create a more resilient, stable and clean energy system for all.

The Grid Is Rapidly Evolving.

With the rise of renewables and distributed generation and the decline in fossil fuels — our electrical system is undergoing radical transformations in the way we generate, distribute, store, and consume energy. What was once a one-directional flow is now a complex, dynamic network where consumers double as energy producers.

It Will Take AI-Driven Solutions.

Renewable energy is inherently variable — making AI-analytics essential. Our Athena® AI-powered platform allows customers to forecast net load and automatically switch between onsite generation, battery power and grid power — maximizing renewable sources while minimizing reliance on fossil fuels and stabilizing the grid during peak demand.

To Create a Clean Energy System for All.

We have the technology to decarbonize — to create an accessible, affordable, reliable, clean, and healthy power infrastructure. The question is: will it modernize enough of the grid in time? Stem is committed to delivering the cost-savings and reliability necessary to incentivize the rapid, system-wide energy transition we all need and deserve.

Our focus is clear

To achieve our mission, we must help to accelerate environmental recovery, deliver stability, build the foundation for social equity, and maintain the highest levels of integrity as an organization.

Speed

Scientists agree that we have a dwindling window of time to take action and limit the rise in average global temperatures. Decarbonization cannot wait. Stem is on a mission to accelerate environmental recovery through our AI-driven energy systems and storage solutions. Stem has been recognized as a Global Cleantech 100 company for our contribution to a more digitized, de-carbonized, and resource-efficient industrial future.

Stability

Whether from extreme weather events or soaring demand, power failures can cost billions of dollars, jeopardize essential services, and result in devastating loss of life. At Stem, we’re committed to creating stable, reliable performance for customers, partners, and municipalities. Our smart energy storage systems help to avoid overtaxing the grid and provide fast, clean backup power during down times.

Equity

Under-resourced communities and communities of color disproportionately bear the burden of economic and environmental injustice – including unequal access to energy. At Stem, we’re helping to build the foundation for energy equity through solutions that deliver affordable, reliable, clean, and healthy energy to underserved communities. For example, Stem has been awarded several projects through California’s equity and resiliency programs, which benefit lower income, medically vulnerable, and fire-risk communities.

Commitment

Our values and actions directly impact our ability to incentivize, advocate, and deliver. That’s why we’re: Pursuing eco-efficient operations. Committing to hiring diverse talent. Continuing company-wide unconscious bias and discrimination training. Creating a modern, inclusive, and innovative culture. Volunteering within our communities. Working with our partners and suppliers to improve their social and environmental performance. And advocating for energy resilience and equity within industry, government, and local municipalities around the country.

John Carrington

Stem CEO

“From day one, our focus has been scaling low-carbon solutions. Through our technology and our relationships, we are working to create a reliable, clean power infrastructure that works for everyone.”

Sustainable Development Goals

Together with our partners and customers, Stem is committed to driving progress toward the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Stem’s AI-driven Athena® platform optimizes energy storage — making energy cleaner, more reliable, and more affordable.
Stem helps make clean energy more accessible, affordable, and healthy for all and promotes gender and racial equity within our operations.
Stem continually invests in AI research & development and is identifying new ways to decarbonize via batteries, electric vehicle charging, microgrids, and more.
Stem helps customers meet their sustainability and climate goals by quantifiably reducing their carbon footprint and improving resilience.

Stem at Work

We’re working toward decarbonization through our projects, technology innovations, thought leadership, and internal initiatives.
