Arun Narayanan

As Stem’s Chief Executive Officer, Arun Narayanan leads the company’s software-forward vision to drive growth and deliver exceptional, software-driven value to our customers. Arun is a seasoned business and digital leader with over 27 years of in software technology, operations, data and analytics across industries, including oil and gas and renewable energy. He comes to Stem having served as the CEO at RES Digital Solutions, a global independent renewable energy company where he oversaw innovation, and the creation of software products and solutions designed to accelerate the digital journey for renewables. Previously, Arun was the Chief Data Officer of Anglo American where he led the digital strategy to build their data analytics platform, VOXEL and was with Schlumberger for more than 21 years focused on building and executing the best-in-class software for the oil and gas market. Arun holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Mumbai, a master’s degree in computer science from Iowa State University of Science and Technology, and MBA’s from both the University of Houston and the University of Texas at Austin.

Chief Financial Officer & Executive VP

Doran Hole

As Stem’s Chief Financial Officer & Executive VP, Doran Hole manages the company’s corporate and project financing efforts. He is a seasoned executive with more than 25 years of experience in global finance and management, specializing in strategic leadership in the clean technology industry. Prior to joining Stem in September 2024, Doran served as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of Ameresco, Inc., a renewable energy asset developer, owner and operator, where he led its financial strategy, capital management, and strategic digitization efforts across the organization. Prior to joining Ameresco in July 2019, he was Chief Executive Officer – North America and Group Vice President – Strategy at ReneSola Ltd., a solar developer and photovoltaic manufacturer, where he played a key role in its capital markets strategy, North American operations, and finance activities. Doran holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting and international business from the University of Texas at Austin.

Chief Operating Officer

Michael Carlson

As Stem’s Chief Operating Officer, Michael Carlson manages the company’s day-to-day operations, program execution, deployment, and manufacturing. A global business executive, Michael brings 30 years of experience in finance, technology, and operations management across multiple industries and specifically 20 years of energy expertise in leveraging technology to drive value through business transformation and grid modernization. Prior to joining Stem, Michael served as Vice President at Koch Engineered Solutions, where he defined and executed the Electric Technologies strategy with an emphasis on Operational Technology software solutions. He also spent more than 12 years at General Electric, Siemens, and ABB, where he was responsible for global software strategies and solutions, product management, and delivery services. Across these roles, he transformed software solutions using advanced technologies to digitalize operations for the energy grid. Michael holds a B.S. in Business Administration with emphases in accounting, management, and computer science from Union College and an MBA in Finance from Pepperdine University.

Chief Technology Officer

Albert Hofeldt

As Chief Technology Officer and Executive Officer, Albert is responsible for Stem’s global software engineering team and all platform technology R&D inclusive of artificial intelligence, product & data architecture, business intelligence and cloud. His success at building high-throughput delivery teams is based on a strong history of transforming organizations to embrace agile cultural norms supported by the right tools & delivery techniques. Albert previously served as Stem’s Executive Vice President and Senior Vice President of Technology and successfully built the foundation for a software-first solutions strategy. Prior to joining Stem, Albert was CTO at LiquidX, a SaaS-based financial trading machine learning provider, where he built the tech organization and launched a multi-asset class blockchain trading & digitization platform. Prior to LiquidX, Albert was CTO at Genscape, a leading energy market intelligence company, where he led a similar transformation launching their multi-asset class energy/machine learning platform. Albert also held SVP tech positions at Thomson Reuters and has 10 years of tech consulting experience at Deloitte and Accenture. Albert earned his PhD in Engineering from Oxford University.

Chief People Officer

Kim Homenock

Kim Homenock serves as Stem’s Chief People Officer. In this role, Kim oversees the global HR team with a focus on organizational development, global talent acquisition, training, diversity & inclusion, and enhancing the employee experience at Stem. Kim brings 20 years’ experience in senior human resources leadership positions. Before joining Stem, Kim held senior positions at Amazon’s Devices Software & Services and Transportation divisions as well as GE’s Power Conversion and Renewables divisions. Kim earned a BA from Brunel University London.

Chief Legal Officer & Secretary

Saul Laureles

Saul Laureles serves as Stem’s Chief Legal Officer & Corporate Secretary. In this role, Saul leads the company’s global legal function, including corporate governance, securities and mergers & acquisitions (M&A), as well as environmental, social, and governance compliance. Saul brings more than 20 years of legal and strategic business experience including handling complex legal and financial matters and advising executives and board members. Before joining Stem, Saul served as Director, Corporate Legal Affairs and Assistant Corporate Secretary at Schlumberger Limited, the world’s leading oilfield services company, which he joined in 2007. Saul earned his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School and B.A. from the University of Chicago.

President, Software Division

Matt Tappin

Matt Tappin serves as the President of Stem’s Software Division. In this role, Matt oversees all of Stem’s software and solar efforts, focusing on asset management, economic optimization and edge devices for energy storage and solar assets. Matt joined Stem as it became a public company in 2021 to lead corporate development, overseeing the company’s inorganic growth strategy, including mergers and acquisitions (M&A), investments, joint ventures, and related matters. Prior to joining Stem, he held senior corporate development positions at Royal Dutch Shell, where he focused on investments in the electricity sector, and Centrica, where he led corporate development for the distributed energy business globally. Earlier in his career, he was an investment banker in Lazard’s Power, Energy & Infrastructure Group and a corporate attorney at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett. Matt earned his J.D. from Duke University School of Law and B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis.

Senior Vice President, Energy Services Division

Jake Berlin

Jake Berlin serves as Stem’s Senior Vice President of Energy Services and leads the company’s Energy Services division. In this role, Jake leads Stem’s go-to-market strategy and execution of solar and storage energy services – from early-stage development through deployment and asset operations. He has a long history in clean energy, including roles with NYSERDA, ICF, Rethink Energy, the New York Power Authority, Willdan Energy Solutions, and Rentricity. He has been a consultant, an entrepreneur, a policymaker, and a solutions developer, and also teaches an MBA class on the clean energy transition at the NYU Stern School of Business.  Jake earned an M.B.A. from the NYU Stern School of Business and a B.A. from Brown University.

David Buzby

David Buzby has been starting, building and investing in “impact” businesses for the last 35 years with an emphasis on renewable energy generation, energy storage/grid services, decarbonizing the built environment, recycling, carbon removal and lithium production. He currently also sits on the Board of Wondrwall Holdco Limited and Spring Valley Acquisition Corp. II.  In the past, he has been an early investor and board member of Sunrun Inc.; a founding investor, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, of SunEdison before selling to MEMC Electronic Materials, Inc.; and a founding investor, board member and chair of the audit committee of ValueClick before selling to Alliance Data Systems Corporation; as well as an investor and board member of numerous private companies. He has also held senior executive roles in numerous companies, including Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Buzby received his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School in 1988 and a B.A. from Middlebury College in 1982.

Ira Birns

Mr. Ira Birns is the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of World Kinect Corporation (f/k/a World Fuel Services Corporation), a Fortune 100 global energy management company providing energy procurement and related services, a position he has held since 2007.  For nearly two decades prior to that, Mr. Birns held various leadership positions, including Vice President and Treasurer at Arrow Electronics, Inc., a Fortune 250 global provider of technology products, services and solutions. Mr. Birns has extensive experience in management, finance and accounting from serving as a senior finance executive at large publicly-traded multinational corporations, as well as significant experience in mergers & acquisitions, capital markets, investor relations and in the energy sector, including renewable fuels and power. Mr. Birns holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Public Accounting from Hofstra University and is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Treasury Professional.

Adam E. Daley

Adam E. Daley is Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Elda River Capital Management, LLC, a real assets investment firm focusing on energy transition and infrastructure opportunities. Previously, from 2005 to 2024, he was a Partner at Magnetar Capital LLC, Co-Head of Magnetar’s Energy & Infrastructure Group and a member of Magnetar Capital’s Management Committee and Investment Committee, where he was focused primarily on the sourcing, execution and management of various investments in the energy, energy infrastructure and renewables sectors. Prior to joining Magnetar Capital, Mr. Daley was an investment banker at Citigroup’s Global Corporate and Investment Bank. Mr. Daley also currently serves on the boards of directors of PosiGen, Inc., Double Eagle Energy III, LLC, Vesper Energy Development LLC and DoublePoint Energy, LLC.  Mr. Daley has a B.S. in Finance with High Honors from the University of Illinois

Anil Tammineedi

Anil Tammineedi is a Partner at the Angeleno Group, LLC, a leading global investment firm focused on high-growth clean energy and climate solutions companies, where he has been leading investments across a number of sectors, including sustainable mobility, energy storage, resource efficiency and smart infrastructure since 2008. Prior to joining the Angeleno Group, Mr. Tammineedi served in various product development and management roles related to semiconductors targeting communications, mobile and power management applications at Broadcom. Mr. Tammineedi also serves on the board of directors of Locana.  He serves as a board observer at Fictiv Inc. Mr. Tammineedi has a M.S. from Iowa State University and an M.B.A. from the UCLA Anderson School of Management, where he serves as a Senior Faculty Advisor to the Business Creation Program and lectures on Impact Investing and Entrepreneurship. Mr. Tammineedi is also a Kauffman Fellow.

Laura D’Andrea Tyson

Laura D’Andrea Tyson is a Distinguished Professor of the Graduate School and Professor Emeritus at the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. She has also been Chair of the Board of Trustees and Steering Committee Member of the Blum Center for Developing Economies since 2006, and is the Faculty Director of the Berkeley Haas Blockchain Initiative and the co-Faculty Director of the Sustainable and Impact Finance Initiative at the Haas School of Business since 2019.  Dr. Tyson also serves as a director of Lexmark International Inc. and Apex Swiss Holdings, SARL, and serves in numerous other advisory roles, such as Senior Advisor to the Rock Creek Group and to the APAX Global Partners Fund and advisory board member for APAX Global Impact and the Angeleno Group. Dr. Tyson was a member of President Clinton’s cabinet from 1993 to 1996 and was the first woman to serve in the positions of Chair of the President’s Council of Economic Advisors, and Director of the White House National Economic Council. Dr. Tyson received her B.A. from Smith College and holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Vasudevan (Vasu) Guruswamy

Mr. Guruswamy leverages his deep domain expertise in the energy, digital technology, and software industries to drive innovation and accelerate growth. He is co-founder and General Partner at Lavni Ventures USA and India and a Venture Partner at CSL Capital Management, an investment firm. Prior to joining CSL, Mr. Guruswamy held several technology and operational management roles with Schlumberger including Vice President, Global Services in the Software Information Solutions division of Schlumberger. Mr. Guruswamy has served on several industry boards at global and regional levels, and has built substantial multi-million-dollar businesses by driving growth in Cloud SaaS offerings. Mr. Guruswamy has a Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering from IIT Madras, India and a Master of Science (MS) from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY.

Krishna Shivram

Krishna Shivram is an experienced leader of global public companies with expertise in corporate finance, capital structure management, and mergers and acquisitions. He is Managing Partner at Veritec Capital Partners, and General Partner at Lavni Ventures India and USA. Mr. Shivram previously held several executive and senior management roles at leading energy and financial organizations including Chief Executive Officer of Sentinel Energy Services Inc., Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Weatherford International plc, and Vice President and Treasurer of Schlumberger Ltd. Mr. Shivram is currently on the boards of Ranger Energy Services, Inc. (NYSE: RNGR) and Allison Transmission Holdings (NYSE: ALSN). Mr. Shivram has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Mumbai University and a Chartered Accountancy Degree from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
