Each day, our team is working on ways to help our partners and customers leverage energy storage to make the grid more resilient and sustainable. In celebration of Earth Day, an annual event on April 22nd supporting environmental protection, we asked some of our employees what Earth Day means to them as professionals in the energy storage space. Here is what they shared:

“As an Energy Industry professional, Earth Day can stand as an exemplar of how we should address our impact on our Earth, and the environments we interact in every day. It can be easy to lose yourself in the day-to-day rigor of working towards that mission, but Earth Day can stand as an annual and globally recognized reminder of the validity and importance of our work. Earth Day is a day where our goals, what we’ve accomplished, and what we envision, can be shared and highlighted on a unique scale.”

“My connection to the outdoors and wildlife is essential to who I am and the passion that drives me. On, Earth Day I reflect on why I became an Energy Storage professional, in order to launch and run programs that enable an equitable clean energy transition in order to protect habitats and communities impacted by climate change. At Stem, I not only have the opportunity to contribute to the technological solution for mitigating climate change, but I am also surrounded by a community of people who consistently challenge and encourage me to make sustainable decisions in my personal life.”

“Earth Day is significant to me because it falls a day before my birthday. I started my journey in energy to protect places like this and energy storage is the missing piece of the puzzle for a fossil free future!”

“To me Earth Day means us all recognizing and committing to doing the little things that can improve our planet and climate, and most importantly without the need for external recognition. While solar and wind will always be the big ticket items everyone sees creating a renewable grid, storage is an essential part of a renewable grid and we continue to go about our business often without the “superstar” status of other renewable assets. To me, these smaller, less recognized changes are what will end up making a big difference.”

“I’ve dedicated my career to renewable energy, because I like to celebrate Earth Day the same way I celebrate most days: outdoors! If you haven’t been to Lander, WY, I highly recommend the climbs featured in this picture and will be out in Red Rocks in a month. Work for what you love and climb on!”

“For me, Earth Day is a time to understand our role as environmental stewards and appreciate all of the finite resources this planet provides. It’s a time to recognize the fortunate, but also precarious, position we find ourselves in as tiny life forms hurtling through space on a giant rock. I use this day to reflect on how I can improve my industry and personal life to enable a more sustainable and equitable future for all in the hopes of making that trip around the sun a little less scary.”

“It’s a good day to reflect on how each of us can do our best to protect and enjoy the environment. Throughout the work day there are little ways we can take care of ourselves, others and the environment, and working in this industry adds to those opportunities exponentially by enabling us to be creative, solve global problems and rethink how we optimize energy!”
– Garrett Colburn, VP of Marketing & Demand Generation |
