As part of the Electrodes Holdings LLC portfolio, Stem is operating a 4MWh system in Southern California for one of the country’s largest baking and food processing companies. Since Athena took control of the portfolio, the company achieved more than 160% of their performance guarantee between 2020 and 2021 due to co-optimization of demand charge management with demand response events during the Summer.
With locations worldwide, the US baking company required software performance improvements, including the ability to link multiple sites to a single platform. The company also sought better utility integration and connection to local grids to improve returns and increase time to value.
By leveraging Stem’s expertise in the California energy market, the baking company was able to improve their energy storage capabilities, UBO, and automated DR capabilities to achieve success.
With Stem’s strategic utilization of California’s SGIP, the baking company improved DR co-optimization that provided on-peak savings in excess of the performance guarantee. Athena’s hourly optimization feature also allows set point maintenance for greater returns.
